The Story of Grand Power
Grand Power was founded by Jaroslav Kuracina — an engineer who refused to accept that the established pistol design was the final word. Working from Banská Bystrica in central Slovakia, he developed an entirely new trigger mechanism: a patented SA/DA system that offered shooters the best of both worlds without compromise.
The firearms industry is conservative by nature. When Kuracina filed his patent in the late 1990s, sceptics were plentiful. The rotary barrel concept — borrowed from the Beretta Px4 concept but executed with far greater precision — was unconventional. The SA/DA trigger with its unique mechanics was unlike anything on the market.
It took time. But competition results speak louder than scepticism. Grand Power pistols began appearing on podiums — IPSC, practical shooting competitions across Europe and beyond. Shooters who tried them came back. Word spread.
The Facility
Today, the Grand Power facility in Banská Bystrica employs over 80 skilled workers. Every firearm is manufactured to a tolerance of ±0.005mm — a standard more commonly associated with aerospace engineering than firearms production. More than 2,000 units leave the factory every month, each one tested and inspected to the same exacting specification.
The K22 — Grand Power's .22 LR long barrel pistol — carries the same DNA as the full-calibre K100 that earned the company its reputation. The Stribog SR22 .22 LR semi-automatic rifle extends the range into practical rifle competition, applying the same manufacturing rigour to a new platform.
